ABOUT ME

My name is Margaret Elizabeth Kuts, and I am a second-year university student at the University of Toronto, pursuing a Specialist Program in Statistics with a focus on the Quantitative Finance Stream. Born in Vancouver, BC on October 7th, 2006, I strive to balance my academic pursuits with my commitment to competitive rhythmic gymnastics at the international level, my volunteer work, and my many creative hobbies.
I have been a member of Team Canada for five years, competing in group rhythmic gymnastics. Currently in my second year with the Team Canada group, I have had the privilege of representing my country at major international competitions. Notable achievements include winning a silver all-around medal at the 2025 Pan American Championships in Asuncion, Paraguay, and competing at the 41st FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Throughout 2025, I also competed at multiple FIG World Cup and World Challenge Cup events across Europe, including competitions in Milan, Cluj-Napoca, and Portimão, where our group placed fourth in finals.
Apart from my own trainings I also volunteer as a rhythmic gymnastics coach. I endeavour to bring a unique analytical approach to trainings, creating scientifically based and data-driven training plans for younger athletes. This intersection of statistics and sport reflects my broader academic interests in quantitative analysis and data interpretation.
RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS
Rhythmic gymnastics has been the defining thread of my life since I was three years old. What began as a way to channel boundless childhood energy has evolved into representing Canada on the world stage. Currently training 25-30 hours per week in Toronto as a member of Team Canada’s senior national group, I balance the demands of elite athletics with my studies at the University of Toronto.
EDUCATION
Education has been the foundation of everything I do. From my earliest days in school through my current studies at the University of Toronto, I’ve approached learning with curiosity, dedication, and joy. My academic journey spans multiple languages, diverse subjects, and the constant pursuit of knowledge.
For me, education isn’t just about grades or credentials—it’s about becoming a more thoughtful, capable, and compassionate person. Whether I’m analyzing statistical models, perfecting Japanese characters, competing in French oratory, or exploring philosophical questions, I approach each challenge with enthusiasm and dedication.
VOLUNTEERING
Giving back to my community is of incredible importance to me! Through coaching, education, community leadership, and performance, I strive to make a meaningful impact and share my passions with others.
MY HOBBIES
Though my schedule as a student-athlete is demanding, I treasure my time pursuing diverse passions. I’m a frequent visitor to museums and art galleries, finding irrepressible joy in examining the stories paintings tell and exploring how art provides snapshots of different eras and values. I create art myself, working with watercolour, acrylic, clay, and alcohol-based markers. I also have a deep appreciation for ballet and music, attending live concerts when I can. My literary tastes span from Jane Austen’s social commentary to Dostoyevsky and Tolstoy’s psychological depth, as well as murder mysteries by Agatha Christie and Arthur Conan Doyle. I find rejuvenation in nature through hikes and botanical gardens, which help clear my mind. When traveling, I love exploring historical monuments, particularly churches and cathedrals, appreciating their artistry, architecture, and the cultural heritage they represent.
