VANCOUVER JAPANESE LANGUAGE SCHOOL
For seven years (2014-2021), I studied Japanese as my fourth language at the Vancouver Japanese Language School (VJLS), earning multiple Diligence Awards and competing in the JALTA Speech Presentation. Learning Japanese opened doors to understanding Japanese Canadian history and culture, ultimately inspiring me to found the VJLS History Club to preserve and share the stories of the Powell Street community.

SHODO
Since 2013, I’ve practiced the ancient art of Japanese calligraphy, achieving top 10th dan and earning teaching certificates for both elementary and middle school levels. Through dozens of competition awards in the Tanabata and Kakizome competitions—including two prestigious Chairman’s Awards—I’ve developed discipline, patience, and an appreciation for the intersection of visual art and written language.
